Hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) is a white or light yellow, odorless, non-toxic fibrous or powdered solid, prepared from alkaline cellulose and ethylene oxide (or chloroethanol) by etherification reaction, belonging to the non-ionic soluble cellulose ether. Because HEC has good thickening, suspension, dispersion, emulsification, bonding, film forming, water protection and provide protective colloid and other properties, it has been widely used in oil mining, paint, construction, medicine and food, textile, paper and polymer polymerization reaction.
